About this event

We open a can of new, freshly showered people, mix them, and shake them up with mini-games, group activities, and surprising questions. You won’t even notice you are meeting so many new people because you are too busy having fun!

Just like on a perfect night out, UpDates are filled with surprises and it is hard to guess what is coming next. One moment, you are playing a one-on-one game, and the next moment you walk freely through the room to solve a group challenge. Sometimes we provide you with the structure to interact (which is lacking when you just go to a bar) and sometimes you walk through the room and choose who you want to talk to/ play with.

You’ll be playing the games with socializers of the opposite gender, which brings us to the grand metagame that’s going on at the same time. While you play all the minigames you’re also in the game of obtaining new fans.


This is how it works:


You get a card on which you can tick off which people you are a fan of. If they are your fans as well, you’ll get each other’s contact after the evening and you can start your new fanship. And who knows, maybe you’ll even experience Fun At First Sight this evening 🙂

What you get: An evening of childish fun, surprising conversations and – possibly – a few new fans:)

We provide you with a drink at the end of the event to encourage you to stick around a bit longer.

P.S. We also sell tickets through other channels, so you can expect a gender-balanced group of around 30 people even when we're not sold out on Eventbrite :)

Can I bring a friend?

Of course! Update evenings are great for creating memories together as friends. Additionally, bringing a person you know can make you feel more secure when you are surrounded by people you haven't met yet. Just a quick tip: you are here to meet people, so be open to talk to new people :)

One day I woke up and realized paradoxes ruled my dating life:

  • The dating app paradox: everybody is on dating apps, but nobody wants to be on there.
  • The bar paradox: when I go out, I just want to spend time with my friends and then I wonder why I never meet anyone there…
  • And by focusing on becoming the best version of myself by reading books and doing a lot of sports, I rarely meet new people…

I was missing something. A place like one of those nights where you meet new people effortlessly because you just go with the flow and have fun! That’s why I sat down with my brother Pieter to create UpDate evenings.

We believe the best way to meet new people is to have fun and see each other in many different situations. That’s why our events are not just about talking, but you can expect many different activities. Playing little games, solving challenges as a team, and more!

Some activities are one-on-one, and some are done in small groups. Sometimes we provide the structure and sometimes you will be free to interact with whoever looks interesting to you at that moment.

You are at your most attractive when you are having fun. We find others most interesting when we see them from many angles in different situations. And smiles look gorgeous on everyone
