About this event

The Young Collectors Circle Trend Talks are inspiring events focused on trends in contemporary art, photography, and digital art. The Trend Talks not only provide insights into the latest developments, but also act as a platform for discussion and networking between various groups.

The Trend Talks are given by tastemakers from the world of art and design: think of museum curators, fashion and design journalists and trend watchers, such as Heske Ten Cate (curator and director at Nest in The Hague; Trend Talk on Contemporary Art) and Jacquill Basdew (curator and artist; Trend Talk on Photography).

The speakers are sharing what is currently going on in their field. Which materials or techniques make a (r)entrance, what influence does the climate crisis have in terms of content and practice, which themes are coming up more and more often?

ABOUT HESKE TEN CATE

Heske ten Cate is a Dutch curator, researcher, and writer, currently serving as Director of Nest, a contemporary art institution in The Hague. Viewing the world and its cultural shifts through the lens of art, she curates exhibitions that operate at the intersection of diverse artistic disciplines, feminist and power-related histories of art, and the radical spirit of counterculture. Her work challenges institutional conventions while advocating for a more inclusive and engaged contemporary art discourse. Beyond her role at Nest, Ten Cate is active as an independent curator for institutions such as Centraal Museum Utrecht and Rijksbouwmeester.

Previously, she was Editor-in-Chief of Mister Motley, where she co-founded and contributed to (international) podcasts and programmes on contemporary art, fostering critical dialogue on its societal impact. Her most recent book, Mothering Myths – An ABC on Art, Birth, and Care, co-authored with Laurie Cluitmans, was recently published by Valiz.
