About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

The fifth Queer Salon, the last in the series, explores the past and future of queer spaces and places. How have they changed, and what does this mean for freedom and inspiration?

Facundo Revuelta
Architect and researcher Facundo Revuelta discusses their work on Hotel Gondolin, which shows how architecture and space play an important role in queer and trans activism. Hotel Gondolin, or El Gondo, is not only a safe haven for trans women in Buenos Aires, but also a symbol of pride and self-sufficiency.

Gabriel Fontana and Amanda Pinatih
As curators of the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Gabriel Fontana and Amanda Pinatih look at sport from a queer perspective, focusing on spaces, bodies and behaviour. They transform the Rietveld Pavilion into a sports café.

Dick van Woerkom
We present material from the archive of architect Dick van Woerkom, who played an important role in establishing the National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning. The selection includes both pieces that are already part of the collection and personal documents that have not yet been officially added to it.

The Queer Salon
The Queer Salon explores how heritage institutions, such as national archives and collections, deal with insiders and outsiders. How accessible are these places to critical visitors? The aim is to reflect on how heritage is preserved and presented. Together with various guests, we discuss inclusivity and accessibility in the heritage sector. What are the blind spots and missing stories in current heritage practice? The Queer Salon is part of the Dutch Research Council’s Critical Visitor project.
