Come and join us around the table at The Captain’s Pantry for a cosy afternoon learning the basics of tarot while sipping on a *completely optional* craft brew or two ✨
This workshop is for anyone curious about how to read tarot or wanting to deepen their knowledge – absolutely no experience necessary!
We’ll be using the classic Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck during the workshop. If you have your own deck, please bring it with you – we feel like it’s always nicer to work with your own cards.
If you don't feel ready to invest in your own deck, that's okay! We will have a limited number of spares on-hand. Alternatively, the Rider-Waite deck is now classed as 'public domain' – meaning you can find it online and print your own deck for free!
What we’ll cover:
- The history and background of tarot
- The meanings behind the symbols and suits of the classic tarot deck
- How to read your own cards, using them as a tool for self reflection (with practical exercises!)
- How to move beyond gendered interpretations and approach tarot through an inclusive, genderqueer lens
- A few different tarot spreads to get you started in your own practice
What you can expect:
- A relaxed, low-stimulation atmosphere
- Stickers for names and pronouns
- A combination of information sharing and practical exercises
- A free workbook to follow during the workshop and help you get started at home
- Plenty of breaks
- A supportive space where you’re welcome to bring fidgets, to knit or crochet, to take longer breaks, stand up and walk around… whatever you need :)
- Plenty of vegetarian snacks and yummy craft sodas – and if you fancy a beer, the first one is on us! (We’ll even have someone on hand to advise on beers you might like to try)
