About this event
Time for the 6th edition of the People Community Meet-Up! Will this one also sell out within 5 days?! Continue reading if you like learning + mingling with HR peers 🤗
About this event:
Flu season is in full swing🤧, so we came up with a topical theme for the November Meet-Up. This edition, 7people teams up with Karlien Spobeck to talk about absenteeism. We know, it's not the most sexy topic. We rarely meet an HR person who says "I love managing sick leave cases". But we met Karlien, and she does🩷 it. She turned it into her specialism and helps companies to optimize their absenteeism processes (like a pro 😉).
Why should you attend?
Let's face it. Managing absenteeism is part of our job as HR. And whether your company is doing great in preventing illness, people will still get sick. It's part of being alive. So this Meet-Up is not about prevention, it's about dealing with cases effectively, with confidence & kindness.
What we will cover:
In an interactive setup, Karlien will help us:
- demystify the different types of absenteeism, guide us through the maze of Dutch rules & regulations on sick leave (yay! finally properly understanding "Wet Verbetering Poortwachter")
- explain roles & responsibilities of employee, HR & manager
- put you to work with real-life cases to gain hands-on experience
- cover what you can do to optimize your processes/policies in such a way that you lower your companies' absenteeism rate.
Expect to find an answer on questions like:
"Someone calls in sick after a bad performance review. What do I do?"
"What role can I give to a manager when managing a sick leave case and what should HR do?"
"Should we accept it if an employee on sick leave with burnout goes for a city trip to NYC?" "Can I expect an employee on sick leave to come to the office for a coffee?"
This session will be PACKED with insights, along with interactive exercises. At the end of the session, there's time for connecting with your peers. Our goal is that you're leaving with tips & tricks to directly apply at your workplace.
Who should attend:
This workshop is ideal for HR business partners, People Leads, team managers, and anyone that is managing absenteeism within their organization.

The idea behind our People Community Meet-Ups:
We know that it can be lonely in HR, and believe that to learn you don't (necessarily) need to go to expensive multiple day courses. That's why we organize these Meet-Ups. The concept is pretty simple: affordable learning with an opportunity to connect with peers. Interactive & practical - leaving you with tips & tools to directly apply at work. We strive to organize a Meet-Up every month. Do you have an idea for a theme or speaker, or would like to co-host with us? We'd love to hear from you. Reach out to sanne@7people.team
A note on our pricing:
We ask a small amount for these Meet-Ups, to cover part of our costs for food, drinks, our time and most importantly, to pay our speakers! Sometimes the price is lower/higher than you're used to. This could be because the Meet-Up was sponsored by the speaker, or because we're doing a special edition of the Meet-Up.
Frequently asked questions
We don't do refunds for tickets, but feel free to give your ticket to a colleague or friend!
No, unfortunately you can't join remotely. This is a real life event, and due to the workshop format it's not suitable for people who want to dial in.
