This forum will address present-day solidarity work supporting the free movement of people at sea, with a special focus on solidarity work and rescue efforts on the borders of Fortress Europe. Facilitator: Charles Heller (Director of Border Forensics, Geneva Graduate Institute and University of Bristol). Speakers include Imane Echchikhi (Alarm Phone Network), Matteo Aria (Ermenautica-Saperi), Elena Maria (sailor and Sea Watch protection coordinator), Jacob Frühmann (Sea Watch), Maurice Stierl (Osnabrück University and Alarm Phone Network)

This public forum is part of the conference Maritime Solidarity: Past and Present, hosted at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam on 22-23 September 2023, supported by the IISH, the University of Pittsburgh and VU/CLUE+.
