De Stichting Jazz in Groningen wil haar doelstelling: 'het bevorderen van de jazz en geïmproviseerde muziek in de meest brede zin van het woord', vervullen door met haar reguliere concerten te zorgen voor continuïteit in het bijzondere muziekaanbod op kleinere podia.

Ook dit najaar hebben we weer een aantal nieuwkomers uit de jazzscene op ons podium: jonge musici die uitblinken in muzikale visie en fris enthousiasme. De Sloveense pianist Miha Gantar, gevestigd in Amsterdam, is zo iemand.Met zijn trio maakt hij avontuurlijke muziek die geworteld is in de geschiedenis van de jazz. Hij wordt daarbij geïnspireerd door de grote creatieve geesten van de twintigste-eeuwse muziek. De groep heeft een zeer persoonlijke benadering van compositie en geluid, waardoor bij elk optreden een nieuwe sonische realiteit ontstaat.Dit is goed te horen op de box set Amsterdam die vorig jaar uitkwam bij Clean Feed Records.
