About this event

  • Event lasts 8 hours 30 minutes

Justice matters now more than ever. Around the world, the rule of law is weakening, justice gaps are widening and forced displacement, conflict, and political instability are rising. The need for action has never been greater. Amidst this backdrop, critical funding is being cut and the once foundational values of justice, human rights and the rule of law are being questioned.

That is why HiiL, in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Municipality of The Hague, is convening the Justice Matters Conference. This gathering will bring together national leaders, policymakers, and investors to reinforce the importance of people-centred justice systems and identify ways to promote and prioritise its implementation across the globe.

“Justice is not charity – it is a smart pragmatic investmentin global security, stability and economic growth”Udo Jude Ilo - CEO, The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL)

Set in the historic Peace Palace in The Hague, this full-day conference will showcase how people-centred justice programming is making justice systems more effective and contributing to stability and economic development . We know better than ever what can be done to improve access to justice. Now is the time to move from commitment to large-scale action

During the conference, the participants will:

  • Demonstrate how justice plays a critical role in promoting well-being, stability, and economic prosperity.
  • Highlight the urgency of improving justice systems to address the most pressing legal problems faced by people and SMEs.
  • Showcase actionable solutions, sharing what works, who’s leading the way and how to expand the reach of successful initiatives.
  • Mobilise investments for people-centred justice programming at scale.

Join us on 8 May to make justice matter.

Be part of this global effort alongside international leaders and policy makers to help shape a future where justice systems work better for all - strengthening the foundation of global peace, stability, and prosperity.
