Holy Name Retreat with Sacinandana Swami

We are feeling very humbled and blessed that His Holiness Sacinandana Swami Maharaja has been so kind to have made room in his busy schedule in the weekend of 3rd and 4th of May 2025. His presence is connected to his visit to Amsterdam Kirtan Mela on the 3rd of May 2025.

What do you do when Sacinandana Swami visits?

You request him to do a Holy Name Retreat! Since many years Maharaja has hosted similar retreats all over the world. He has helped many people to develop a deeper connection to the Holy Names. This retreat consists of workshops, collective meditation sessions and kirtan. There will be room for questions and answers. And of course there will be vegetarian/vegan lunch prasadam and diner take-away.

A bigger space

We have found a suitable place in Amsterdam. At the moment, the temple in Amsterdam does not offer the space we would like. Because we wish to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to take part, we've decided to look for a different location. Finding a suitable place ultimately brought us to De Meditatietuin in Amsterdam.

Who is Sacinandana Swami?

Sacinandana Swami Maharaja was born in Germany. He is a disciple of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and has been practicing bhakti yoga for about fifty years. His simplicity, humor and depth of vision make him a suitable person to learn from. You will get connected deeper in the process of devotion.

What else is important?

A retreat, even for one day, can be powerful and transforming. If you're able to also be present at the Amsterdam Kirtan Mela the day before, this makes for a weekend full of transcendental energy. This event is setup to make us connect to the Holy Names in peaceful, melodious and harmonious way. To remain in this atmosphere, we as organizers find in appropriate to mention there will be NO facilities for children on Sunday. This Holy Name Retreat is therefore less suitable for parents with young children.

Finally

The location is the building of the center of Amstelpark in Amsterdam. It is within walking distance from Central Station. Tickets cost €25 per person and are available at Eventbrite. There are only 70 seats available. The event takes place from 11:00 until 16:00, afterwards there will be a Sunday Feast in the Temple at the Lizzy Ansinghstraat. Invite someone who you think can benefit from a day like the Holy Name Retreat! We wish for devotees from all over the country to come for this special day. .

This program is organized by ISKCON Amsterdam. All funds are used for the cost of the event. Any extras will be used to organize the 2026 and beyond events from the Kirtan Amsterdam Movement.
