Visual artist Bruna Souza invites you to create your own festive accessories for carnaval celebrations. In Brazilian carnaval, participants have the freedom to embody any character, costume or identity they feel drawn to. Exploring these inspirations and drawing on costume rituals from Brazilian carnival, Bruna guides you to form your own theme or character and construct wearable decorations.
This beginner-friendly workshop welcomes all ages and provides a variety of materials, including fabrics, tools and decorative embellishments. You will experiment with different techniques to craft unique headpieces, masks, or other kinds of accessories.
About Bruna Souza | https://brunasouza.art/
Coming from a mixed Brazilian and Dutch background, my work is heavily influenced by identity, globalisation, and hybrid cultures. I'm also interested in existential and psychological explorations; I'm curious how my own world view differs from the perspectives of others, how we can understand each other, where and how our identities take root from, and how this manifests in the way we live our lives and interact with others. Through mixed media, each project I undertake explores a different material or method: video, photography, sculpture, illustration, or multi-media installation.
