You're invited to join us in learning the fundamentals of botanical watercolour painting. Whether you've a few paintings under your belt, or are just starting out with watercolour, I'll have some fresh tips and tricks for you to discover, as well as a printed guide to take home.
NOTE This ticket is for the single stand-alone Lesson iv. You can purchase a ticket for the whole course/ all 4 lessons together (this block runs Jan-Feb '25) here (if it's full, sign up for my monthly newsletter where you'll hear when I plan the next course). You can join us for this one session, or for all four.
We'll work on how to~
- Become familiar with your materials
- Translate your vision for the painting on to the page
- Create stunning and convincing botanicals and florals
- Make painting a fun and stress-free experience!
Each session has a different focus~
Lesson iv~ 'Creating Form & Realism' (Weds 5th Feb 9.30-11.00)
We'll work on~
- Learning the rules of physics and 3D space, then break them for botanicals that leave a lasting impression!
- We’ll look at tonal values and shadow, how to ‘anchor’ your subject in the scene, and how to show how the objects in your space relate to each other
- How you can create convincing and ‘real’ botanicals without them being perfectly realistic.
Each lesson will have a different choice of real and photographed botanical subjects to paint and study, and you'll pick up the fundamentals which can be applied to any painting subject, not just botanicals.
Laura Carter is a professional English illustrator, with several years experience of giving art workshops.
