BACKGROUND 2023!
At the first Breda Game Week held in November 2023 we introduced a B2B program.
The day in 2023 consisted our two main program segments in Breda City, Netherlands:
Segment 1: Morning Sessions for investor, publishers.
Morning Sessions for investor, publishers, and policy makers in the space of digital, immersive content creation, and video games (esports, entertainment games, serious games, art games, AR/VR, game tech, etc.).
Location: Breda University of Applied Science (BUas) – Game School, the leading video game institute in Europe and ranking 3rd globally (GAMEducation, 2023)
Format: roundtable session, with moderation and a video game expert. Finance policies of the Dutch government. Discussions on the current state and opportunities of investment for game studios in the province or Noord-Brabant and greater Region
Objectives: key objective was to bring stakeholders and investment experts together.
Results: Investment in the game sector is not easy, there are however opportunities be it that regional could be limited. The Dutch government has a seed capital fund, this initiative could be open for video game investors that need to work together with at least 3 parties.
Segment 2: Afternoon sessions for video game studio’s.
Afternoon sessions for video game makers, developer, student teams, start-ups, scale-up from the region, however nationally also welcomed.
Location: Breda University of Applied Science (BUas) – Game School, the leading video game institute in Europe and ranking 3rd globally (GAMEducation, 2023)
Format: As a first ever session created a Game Investor Matching zone at the BUas (the leading video game school in Europe) in Breda and together with 5 investors for the Netherlands, UK and Belgium created a roster for the 20+ participating video game studios that enrolled in the match making sessions with the video game investors and experts.
At the same time for game developers that did not start a company, a portfolio review session was programmed in a space near the Game Investor Matching zone.
Objectives: key objective was to help game studios to get warm introductions with video game publishers and investors.
Results: the roster was fully booked, and several investors found there was enough substance to return in 2024. One investor mentioned they could have a potential deal.
