AMSTERDAM 750: EEN ODE AAN HET MOOISTE STADSDEEL
Ter gelegenheid van de 750ste verjaardag van Amsterdam richten we onze aandacht op het meest dynamische stadsdeel van de stad, Amsterdam Zuidoost. Hoewel deze wijk jonger is dan andere delen van de stad, heeft Zuidoost een rijke en complexe geschiedenis. Wat zijn de verhalen van de bewoners? Welke minder bekende verhalen blijven onverteld? In een hybride tentoonstelling, waarin beeldende kunst gemaakt door AiRich, Dion Rosina en Jesper Buursink gecombineerd wordt met een short movie, komt de unieke cultuur van Zuidoost tot leven.
In de korte film, gemaakt door Sammy Shifa Idris, gaat Rotjoch (Angelo Diop) samen met verhalenvertellers en artiesten; Ernestine Comvalius, Orville Breeveld, George Adegite, Ocho & Ibs, Sarah-Jane, Mr. Jetfly (Marlon Francis), Cho (Giovanni Essed), MC Lost en ook Dion Rosina, AiRich en Jesper Buursink op pad door Zuidoost.
Samen bezoeken ze drie publieke kunstwerken uit de Buitenkunst Amsterdam collectie genaamd, ‘Kariatidenzuil’ door Joost Barbiers, ‘City Cells’ door Karin van Dam, and ‘Nelson Mandela Memorial: Rona Batho’ door Mohau Modisakeng’. In de video's bespreken de deelnemers hoe deze werken verbonden zijn met thema's die relevant zijn voor de identiteit van het stadsdeel en de beleving van de gemeenschap.

AMSTERDAM 750: EEN ODE AAN HET MOOISTE STADSDEEL
In celebration of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, we turn our attention to the city’s most dynamic district: Amsterdam Zuidoost. Though younger than other parts of the city, Zuidoost holds a rich and complex history. What are the stories of its residents? Which lesser-known narratives remain untold? In a hybrid exhibition combining visual art by AiRich, Dion Rosina, and Jesper Buursink with a short film, the unique culture of Zuidoost comes to life.
The short film, directed by Sammy Shifa Idris, follows Rotjoch (Angelo Diop) as he embarks on a journey through Zuidoost alongside storytellers and artists including Ernestine Comvalius, Orville Breeveld, George Adegite, Ocho & Ibs, Sarah-Jane, Mr. Jetfly (Marlon Francis), Cho (Giovanni Essed), MC Lost, as well as Dion Rosina, AiRich, and Jesper Buursink.
Together, they visit three public artworks from the Buitenkunst Amsterdam collection: Kariatidenzuil by Joost Barbiers, City Cells by Karin van Dam, and Nelson Mandela Memorial: Rona Batho by Mohau Modisakeng. Through their discussions, the participants explore how these works connect to themes relevant to the district’s identity and the experiences of the community.
