For many, the Apollo House on Apollolaan is an iconic building in Amsterdam. What some may not yet know is that it also houses a remarkable art collection. Employees at A&O Shearman are inspired by the artworks on a daily basis and are excited to share this with the public during Amsterdam Art Week. Especially for the occasion, A&O Shearman will be opening its doors to visitors.
The works in the collection are selected by the art committee not only for their aesthetic value but also for their content. Themes that are important to A&O Shearman are reflected in the artworks. It is fascinating to see how topics explored in the art world resonate within the corporate sphere. The collection includes works by Melanie Bonajo and Katja Mater, artists known for their commitment to the LGBT+ community. Other featured artists include Helen Verhoeven, Praneet Soi, Raquel van Haver, Dana Lixenberg, Andrea Büttner, Job Koelewijn, Navid Nuur, Carlos Amorales, Koos Buster, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, and many more.
On Saturday 24 May, you are warmly invited to take a rare look behind doors that are usually closed to the public. Art advisor Marc-Jan van Laake will guide you through this inspiring collection, while you also have the chance to admire the beautiful architecture of Apollo House.
